Make Wisconsin a Leader Again
Rae’s opponent will be incumbent Herb Kohl, one of the richest of all
U.S. Senators. Kohl’s Senate voting record shows his willingness to
protect the wealth and privilege of the very rich and his willingness to
put other people’s children in danger. In 2005, he voted to protect
credit card companies by making it difficult for people to declare
bankruptcy. He supported the billions of dollars given to oil companies
and the nuclear industry in the energy bill. He helped pass enormous tax
cuts for rich people like himself. And he continues to support the
disastrous Iraq war.

Herb Kohl’s record is in sharp contrast to Wisconsin’s proud
progressive tradition. It was Wisconsin Senator Bob LaFollette who
decried “the selfish ambition and the cruel greed of a comparatively few
men (in each government) who saw in…war an opportunity for profit and
power for themselves, and who were wholly indifferent to the awful
suffering they knew that war would bring to the masses.” We again need a
Senator who will stand for peace and the needs of working people. Mr.
Kohl won’t stand up for you, but Rae Vogeler will.
Rae is a candidate of the Wisconsin Green Party. She shares the Green
Party’s basic values: grassroots democracy; social and economic justice;
environmental protection and peace as the centerpiece of foreign policy.
The U.S. Senate is filled with rich men representing the corporations
they own and the corporations that fund their campaigns. The parties in
power refuse to raise, much less talk about, the issues that matter most
to you.
Rae Vogeler, as Green Party candidate for U.S. Senate, will not
serve the needs of the powerful, but she will speak up for you. Help us
make that happen.
